Suppose you were a mountain climber and there was a very high, difficult, and challenging mountain to climb. Suppose you have already climbed the mountain, and you succeeded. You are now at the top. Climbing the mountain was so much fun that you’d like to do it over again. But you can’t. For one thing, you can’t get back to the bottom; the climb is one-way. Also, you already know about every challenge and how to overcome it, every path and how to find it. But suppose you could find a way to go back in time, and assume conditions that allowed you to do a certain part all over again. You wouldn’t need to do the entire climb in one go. You’d just be able to visit segments of the climb and experience that again. You’d have to forget your knowledge about how to do it. In a sense, you’d have to forget your current identity. The top guy. Also, you’d become the person with less experience that you were before. You’d be weaker, more confused. You would take on conditions of imperfection and being flawed, just so that you could make the trip once more. This, you have done. |
